Use a mild or dry shampoo. Regular shampoos will leave your scalp dry and itchy. It's a moisturiser, you know what to do with it, but here's something you may not have thought of. Rub the soap back and forth until suds form.

I doubt that there's anything you can do to completely eliminate the dryness, but the difference between managing and not managing it is significant. Fairly clear on the surface, but deep cysts underneath that hurt and swell.
